Hello everybody! Time for a new journal entry I suppose! I just came back from my school's spring arts festival. I've been looking forward for it for a while now since I have my own panel in it and it'll be my last year participating in it. I spent a lot of time last week matting artworks and setting up. I'll admit, my panel's not the prettiest thing, as I had a lot going on last week, but I'm glad to see it up finally! Last super-late update before I go to bed... Last year (March 29/April 1) my sister and I got to meet Steven Fischer! He is a cartoonist and the creator of the UK kids TV show "Steve and Bluey". He taught two classes at my local Art center. The first class was more of a lecture +Q&A and the second was a hands on workshop where we created our own stories. The best part was that the event was kind of last minute and not well advertised, so there were only 4 students for the workshop and 2 for the lecture (so just my sister and I). So I'm not sure if I ever wrote about it on here or not, but last October I got to meet Mr. Floyd Norman and his wife at MICA. It was a movie screening +Q&A. He was the first black animator at Disney. The event talked about many topics from how to get started in the industry to facing racism and ageism. He is a believer in keeping and learning from old art, even if it's now a days considered offensive, rather than destroying or censoring it. Him and his wife have different perspectives on racism, as they grew up in different environments (he doesn't believe he felt it as much, where as his wife used to be a black panther).
